Robinia Mittens by Anne Ventzel
Robinia Mittens by Anne Ventzel
ROBINIA MITTENS are a classic fit and with a feminine look. The mittens are worked in stockinette stitch in a simple stranded pattern.
The mittens can be worked in two sizes as hands come in different lengths. The pattern also describes how to add extra length if you need a longer mitten than size 2 provides.
I have also used thinner yarn to knit the ROBINIA MITTENS for kids, thus creating mittens in size 5-6 years and 7-8 years.
Size
Sizes: 1 (2)
Length: 23 (25) cm
Circumference: 21 cm
Needles
2.5 mm and 3 mm double-pointed needles
Optional: smaller double-pointed needles for picking up the thumb stitches
Gauge
23 sts x 30 rows in PATTERN on a 3 mm needle = 10 x 10 cm
I recommend knitting a swatch before starting the project. Wash and dry the swatch before measuring the gauge. Adjust your needle size accordingly, as a single stitch more or less across 10 cm can considerably change the fit of the finished mitten.
*Note from Tina*
I've just finished a knitting pattern and am delighted with the mittens I made. For this project, I used three balls of Lamana Bergamo yarn, selecting two in the main colour (33 Carmine) and one in the contrasting colour (58M Walnut Melange). It was a fantastic choice; the yarn is incredibly soft and warm, absolutely stunning when blocked, and a pleasure to work with on the needles.
The pattern is full of useful information and easy to follow; but best of all, my mittens only took a few days to complete. I plan to knit these stylish mittens again, but next time I will add a few extra rows to the main body to give a little more length.
Give them a go, you won't be disappointed.
